My Digital Philosophy

My new digital philosophy:  As I was backing up my computer to a new offsite company, I realized that I have over 500,000 photos!  Yes, you read that right.  500,000!  Guess how many I have printed?  Certainly not 500,000…  While I love having copies of images on my computer, they rarely get looked at.  When on my walls or in albums, I get to treasure them every day.  When I look at them I think back and remember the day they were taken, what happened, the process, how little my baby girl was – and it gives me that feel good sensation a portrait should.  I know CD’s of your images are a big thing right now but how often do you actually print them out and where do you get them printed if you do?   You pay a lot of money to have your Professional Portraits taken and as such they should be printed by a professional lab and displayed on walls or in albums to be treasured for a lifetime.  Not just burned to a disc and left in a desk drawer and forgotten about.  Technology changes so much (remember when there used to be BETA, Cassette Tapes, Floppy Disks) that one day CD’s may/will become obsolete.  The paper/canvas your images are printed on will never become obsolete.     Now, I know everyone loves to share their images on facebook/email and what not – so from now on – every pose you purchase in print, you will automatically get that image web sized as well for you to share on the internet.  That way you don’t have to try and scan your images (because they will not look right) and you won’t have to worry about trying to find a place to get your own images printed (isn’t that what you hired a Professional for – to have someone else do the work for you?).
